Chapter. 1 v 3-14
Paul was proud of his appointment of an Apostle and made it
known, which confused people, for Paul
was well-known as a persecutor of Christians, and had some badly treated and
arrested.
Paul was pondering about Christians being people of God.
During his pursuit of Christians, he was struck by lightning which blinded him,
and a voice was heard saying, why are you persecuting me Paul? He knew then Jesus was alive. This led to him
becoming an Apostle, for the purpose of leading Gentiles to become
Christians. For Paul everything was for
God, his persecution of Christians was because he thought that would please God.
Paul thought of the bounty of God’s choice. God has chosen us to bless us with blessings, which are found in heaven. There certain things we can do for ourselves, but there are things beyond our obtaining. A man can with a certain skill of science, attain a position in society, but by himself he cannot attain peace of mind. God chose us to give things which only He can give.
Paul thinks of the
purpose of God’s choice. God chooses us
to be holy, which means we are different.
A Temple is different from all other buildings because it is holy. Priests are expected to be different from the
normal man by not getting involved in particular worldly activities; so Christians
should be different by not taking part in worldly acts.
The modern Church does not always take seriously the Word of
God, tendering to please society, and
thereby does not recognize the
holiness of God. How must God feel when
He sees the Church using false doctrine, that His Word condemns The Christian
lives, works, and behaves not as everyone normally does, but as the law of
Christ compels him/her, A Christian
teacher is not meant to satisfy the idea of an education authority, but to follow the demands of Christ. A simple statement would tell Christians they
must follow the teachings of Christ as laid down in the Bible. Thus ,always
remembering you are a Christian and this can be revealed in your daily life.
The call this passage is making, means commitment to the lowly
work persons. I know how hard all this
can be, and I write as someone who has been through the tumble of this ungodly
world
People say they have faults and cannot change them. The Christian standard is to aim for
perfection, and does not give in to worldly standards. We must strive to satisfy the choice God made of us.
Praise the Gospel of God and Glorify His Holy Name.
