L U K E 2 V 1-14
We have in these verses, the story of the Son of God,
the Lord Jesus Christ, Every birth of a
child is a great event, It brings a soul
which will have everlasting life. But never since the world began has there never been a birth as marvelous as the birth
of Jesus Christ, It was a miracle of God,
and showed God was in flesh. The world
was blessed and the door to heaven and everlasting life was opened for all who
accept Christ as Savior.
Firstly, it was in the reign pf Augustus the Roman
Emperor, who made a decree that all the world should be taxed, The Jews were coming under dominion and taxation
from a foreign power with strangers were beginning to rule over them
The decree of Augustus called on all men to attend a
census at their ancestral town,
Which meant
Jospeh had to leave Nazareth and travel 80 miles to Bethlehem. This meant that
Mary who was in advanced pregnancy, would need to have attention in Bethlehem.
The city was filled with people and accommodation was
primitive. Mary first went into a courtyard as the Inn was full, and had to decide
whether to go to a
stable in which
animals were kept or a manger. Swaddling clothes for the bay consisted of a
square cloth with a string of cloth, which was narrow and long which could be
wrapped around, the baby.
When the baby was born there was an
angelic testimony to shepherds who were tending sheep in nearby fields’; the
shepherds were in contact with the Temple to which they would provide Lambs for
sacrifices. Now they would be able to see
and accept the lamb of God,
The announcement
of the birth was for every person about the coming of Jesus as His
coming is tell of his authority and lordship and the exercise of His power in
overcoming sin. The shepherds were told of the place of the child and were
expected to visit and see the lovely baby wrapped up in poor clothing.
They saw the first revelation of God in the world,
We see the faithfulness of God as He tells us about
Jesus. He was the most humblest of
births but became the most exalted person who ever lived This shows the value of a person does not lie
in the number of possessions.
The shepherds went to see Jesus, and to find the way
of life can be influenced by Him; we can be influenced by attending Church to praise
and worship Him and find the kind of life He calls us to. We follow his
footsteps and glorify God.
Our rejoicing in the story of Jesus is an early part,
when the years go by we find Jim life today. One day in heaven we can meet Him
face to face with men and women from all corners of the earth. We prepare for that in this life.
May you all have a happy and blessed Christmas
Give thanks to God for His gift to us; we praise Jesus
and glorify god.
